TV LIKE US
TV LIKE US is the second book of The Finnish Institute in London's ongoing series Reaktio, and is a publication on community, media and art in the city. The book consists of two main parts as well as a short introduction to the series, the different parts being separated by a tab system. From artist TV to open media platforms, TV LIKE US presents cases, methods and ideas behind the continuing lively, local TV culture.
The ring binding creates a modular system for the Reaktio series, allowing part one to change in format (e.g. booklet, postcards or concertina) and enables it to work as a freestanding piece – which can be published at an earlier date as well as distributed at corresponding events. Part one of TV LIKE US is a booklet entitled TV Swansong: Now We Are 10 which revisits a Somewhere project by Karen Guthrie and Nina Pope. It's purpose is to raise questions and introduce subjects that is discussed in the second part of the book.
Reaktio means "react" in Finnish, and to invite the reader to interact with the book as well as respond to the content, a pencil is provided along with empty lined pages. New supplementary fonts, colours and paper stock have been selected for each title in the series to suit the subject matter in question. The elastic loop not only holds the pencil in place, but will also hold the whole book series together once published.
